When should you book your maternity photographs? A useful starting point is to choose a period when your bump is visible and you feel comfortable making the journey, changing outfits and spending time in front of the camera. The date should suit you, rather than becoming another deadline to worry about.
Use 28–34 weeks as a starting point
For maternity sessions at Mamamiyo Photography in Singapore, we generally suggest around 28–34 weeks. This is our photography planning guide, not a rule that every pregnancy must follow. Tell us your pregnancy week and due date when you enquire, so we can discuss possible dates with you.
You do not need to wait until you reach that stage to contact us. Enquiring earlier gives us a chance to check appointments and plan the looks you want. If you are already beyond that window, ask about availability rather than assuming you have missed your opportunity.
Think about the experience, not only the calendar
Consider what feels manageable for you: travelling to the studio, getting ready, changing between outfits and being photographed with your partner or children. Share any positions or clothing you would prefer to avoid. We can discuss the photographic arrangements without expecting you to copy a pose that feels awkward.
You also do not need modelling experience. Our guide to maternity posing explains how gentle direction and small changes in hand placement can help you feel less uncertain in front of the camera.
Choose a couple of looks before confirming the details
Browse our maternity portfolio and save two favourite looks. You might prefer a soft knitted outfit, a covered gown or flowing fabric. A screenshot makes it easier to explain the overall feeling you like, while we check which outfits and arrangements are currently available.
The current maternity package includes a one-hour studio session and two outfits, with outfits for mum provided. Your own outfit can be discussed beforehand as part of planning those included looks. Bringing personal clothing should not be taken to mean that extra outfit changes are automatically included.
Plan around the people joining you
If your partner or children will join the portraits, share their availability when suggesting dates. Core family portraits are included, and knowing who will attend helps us discuss coordinated clothing and the photographs you want together.
For practical items such as undergarments, optional heels and meaningful props, read the maternity preparation guide. Makeup is an optional service at an additional cost, so discuss it before making arrangements if you would like it.
What to send when you enquire
Send your pregnancy week, due date, a few preferred dates, your two favourite portfolio looks and who will be joining. Weekday and weekend appointments, including mornings, afternoons and evenings, are subject to availability. A clear enquiry helps us suggest a workable plan without you needing to decide every detail first.
