A newborn photoshoot can also be an opportunity to photograph the family’s newest relationship: an older child becoming a brother or sister.

For Noah Lee Wen Jun’s family, the session included an 11-day-old newborn and their two-year-old son.

Patience when the unexpected happens

In his review, Noah recalled a small accident during the newborn photographs. He appreciated that the team remained calm, helped clean up and continued the session.

It was a specific detail that stayed with him: how the situation was handled, alongside the props and the finished pictures.

Helping an older child participate

Noah also noted that Lesley was able to engage his two-year-old son to smile and pose for the family photographs.

His experience gives parents a useful point to consider when choosing a photographer: ask how older children can take part, as well as what is included for the newborn.

Every child responds differently, so a particular expression or pose cannot be guaranteed. Letting the photographer know your children’s ages and your priorities beforehand helps with planning.

Mamamiyo’s current newborn package includes a family portrait setup, with parents and siblings welcome.
