You don’t need to know how to pose for maternity photos

By Lesley · Photographer’s perspective

You don’t need to arrive at your maternity photoshoot with a collection of poses memorised. Helping you find a comfortable position and understand what to do with your hands is part of my job.

At Mamamiyo Photography in Singapore, I guide maternity sessions with attention to your outfit, your posture and how you feel in front of the camera. A small change in angle or hand placement can make a photograph feel more natural.

Start with the photographs you like

Before your session, browse our maternity portfolio and choose the looks that appeal to you. Perhaps you prefer a soft robe, a flowing gown or a more expressive fabric portrait.

These choices give us a starting point. You can also tell me what you feel comfortable showing and whether there are styles you would prefer to avoid.

The current maternity studio package includes two outfits, with outfits provided for mum. If you would like to wear something of your own, discuss it with us beforehand so we can plan the session.

Guidance is part of the experience

In her published review, Esther Chua recalled appreciating the poses I suggested during her maternity shoot. You should have guidance throughout the session.

Your partner and children are welcome to join the portraits, too. Let us know who will be attending when you enquire. Makeup is available separately at an additional cost.
