If you are choosing between newborn photographs in the first two weeks and a Full Month session, start with your baby's age and the setting that suits your family. At Mamamiyo Photography in Singapore, these are two different session arrangements within our newborn photography service. The 10–14-day recommendation is a preferred window, rather than a deadline after which photographs are no longer possible.
Why do we recommend newborn photos within the first 14 days?
In the early newborn stage, babies tend to spend more time asleep and naturally rest with their arms and legs tucked close to their bodies. This can make it easier to photograph the sleepy, curled-up look many parents associate with newborn portraits. It is also a chance to remember the tiny features of those first days, such as little fingers, toes and the way baby fits into your hands.
That is why Mamamiyo recommends planning around 10–14 days when these sleepy portraits are your priority. As babies grow, they may spend more of the session awake and prefer to stretch out, so the photographs can have a different feel. These changes are gradual and vary from baby to baby; nothing suddenly changes on day 15.
Our Newborn Package covers babies under one month old. If you would like early newborn portraits, contact us with your due date or baby's birth date so we can discuss available dates. Babies have their own rhythms: a particular sleeping pose or expression cannot be guaranteed by booking a specific day.
Already past two weeks? You have not automatically missed your chance. Tell us your baby's actual age and what you hope to photograph. We adapt the session to your baby's comfort, which may include wrapped portraits and calm awake expressions instead of trying to recreate every pose in a reference image.
Choose the setting as well as the date
The current Newborn Package is an at-home session lasting up to two hours. Baby outfits and props are provided, and we can plan baby portraits alongside family photographs. Confirm your chosen themes and current setup arrangements before booking. Parents and siblings are welcome to join. If avoiding a journey with your newborn matters to you, this home arrangement may be a useful starting point.
The Full Month Package is a studio session for babies over one month old and up to six weeks old. It includes one baby solo setup and one family portrait setup, with baby outfits and props provided. Check the Full Month details on our package page when comparing the two options. Around the one-month boundary, share your baby's birth date so we can confirm the appropriate session before you book.
Think about the photographs you want to keep
Would you love a simple close-up, a playful themed portrait, or photographs of your older child meeting their new sibling? Browse our newborn theme galleries and save a few favourites. Use them to explain the colours, mood or family interaction you enjoy, rather than expecting the same expression from a different baby.

Leave room for your baby's needs
Neither choice requires your baby to sleep for every photograph. Feeding, changing and settling are part of planning the session. We do not force a pose your baby resists. A calm awake portrait or a gentle family interaction can be just as meaningful as a sleeping photograph.
Read the Newborn / Full Month preparation guide before your session. Keep feeding supplies and spare diapers ready, prepare coordinated clothing for family portraits, and send your preferred setups in advance so we can prepare the relevant props.
A practical way to decide
For an early session at home, ask about Newborn availability. For a studio session around 4–6 weeks, ask about Full Month. If your baby is between these stages, or you are unsure what will suit your family, contact Mamamiyo with the birth date, who will join and two or three favourite examples. We can help confirm the session arrangement without treating the first two weeks as your only opportunity for photographs.
