Basic and Further Retouching: What Each Includes

Receiving your photographs involves two different kinds of editing at Mamamiyo Photography in Singapore. Basic Retouching gives the delivered gallery a consistent finish. Further Retouching adds individual attention to the favourites you select. Understanding the difference helps you know what to expect when your gallery arrives and how to describe the changes that matter to you.

Basic Retouching: consistency across your gallery

Basic Retouching standardises colour and exposure across the delivered photographs. This includes white balance, brightness and contrast, with basic cropping, straightening and minor background clean-up where appropriate. The aim is a consistent gallery that you can enjoy, compare and use to find your favourites.

It does not mean that every photograph receives detailed skin work or individual face and body adjustments. A temporary mark, flaky patch of newborn skin or a small clothing detail may still be visible. That is why Basic Retouching and Further Retouching are separate stages, rather than two names for the same service.

Our photography packages explain the delivered photographs and selected Further Retouching allowance for each session. Check your confirmed package instead of assuming that every delivered image includes the same detailed editing.

Further Retouching: individual refinement of selected photographs

Further Retouching works photograph by photograph. Depending on the image and your request, it may include skin refinement, eye enhancement, teeth whitening, stray-hair removal, hair or clothing refinement, gentle face or body adjustments, and removal of small distractions. These are possible adjustments, rather than a checklist automatically applied to every portrait.

You can tell us which details you would like refined and which you prefer to keep. For example, you may want temporary flaky skin softened while keeping the small features that make the portrait feel familiar. We will consider what suits the particular photograph. More extensive requests need separate confirmation; selecting an image does not make every possible change part of the included service.

Choose your favourites and explain your preferences

Look through the gallery for expression, connection and composition before focusing on small distractions. Then identify your chosen photographs using the gallery selection process or the relevant photo IDs or screenshots. A specific note such as “please check the small background distraction on this image” is clearer than a general request to change everything.

Our Maternity, Newborn, Full Month and Baby Packages include Further Retouching on 10 selected photographs. The First Year Bundle follows a different sequence: Sessions 1 and 2 provide Basic Retouching galleries for viewing and downloading, and you select 30 photographs together after Session 3.

The photos, retouching and delivery FAQs explain the process. Additional retouched photographs can be purchased separately. If you are unsure whether a particular change is suitable, contact Mamamiyo with the photograph reference and your preference before confirming the request.
