Choosing a maternity photographer can begin with a very practical worry: what will I wear, and how will I look in the photographs?

In her review of Mamamiyo Photography, Shufen explained that these concerns had almost led her to skip maternity photos altogether.

Finding help with clothing

After discovering Mamamiyo’s photographs on Facebook, Shufen found that the available outfits and the opportunity to include her husband and children helped her decide to book.

She particularly remembered Lesley helping her change between different outfit styles during the studio session. Clothing was part of the support provided, rather than something she had to work out entirely on her own.

Feeling pleased with the photographs

Shufen was happy with the finished photographs and described the session positively.

Her experience may be familiar to anyone who likes the idea of maternity portraits but feels uncertain about being photographed. Looking through actual work and asking how the photographer will help with outfits and posing can make that decision easier.

For your own session, start with a few maternity photographs you like and tell us what appeals to you. You do not need to have every detail decided before asking a question.

This is an editorial summary of Shufen’s historical review, not a first-person account written by her. Her original package may differ from today’s service. The current maternity package includes two outfits; makeup is an optional extra.
