Your baby does not need to sit independently to have a portrait session. At Mamamiyo Photography in Singapore, we can plan lying-down, reclining and appropriately supported arrangements around what your baby finds comfortable. There is no need to practise sitting for a photograph or postpone every portrait until that milestone.
The useful starting point is to tell us what your baby enjoys now: looking up while lying down, reaching for a toy, being held, or a short time on their tummy. We can discuss those preferences alongside your chosen theme. A finished photograph shows one moment; it does not establish a baby’s developmental stage or show every support used outside the frame.
Start with comfortable reclining portraits

A reclining arrangement leaves plenty to photograph: an open smile, a raised hand, little feet or a curious look towards a parent. The grey knitted portrait above shows how the outfit, basket lining and surrounding toys create a complete scene without making independent sitting the focus.
Browse our 3–6 month baby portfolio for reclining examples you like. Choose the mood and colours first, then ask us how that look can be arranged for your baby. A favourite picture is a helpful reference, rather than a pose your baby must copy.
If your baby does not enjoy tummy time, tell us beforehand. Our baby photography FAQs explain that poses and setups are adjusted to your baby’s comfort and development, with suitable support. We can discuss lying-down alternatives instead of spending the session trying to achieve a position they resist.
Choose a theme around your baby’s comfort

The chef portrait above uses a reclining arrangement too. The hat, checked fabric and bread props carry the theme. When sending a screenshot, point out which details you love, and tell us whether your baby is comfortable reclining, being held or briefly lying on their tummy. We will confirm the practical arrangement and current outfit or prop availability before the session.
Our Baby Package covers ages three months to one year and includes a one-hour studio session with one baby solo setup and one family portrait setup. Baby outfits and props are provided. Let us know who will join the family photographs so we can plan those alongside the solo portraits.
Give baby time to rest beforehand, bring usual feeding supplies, spare diapers and a favourite toy, and share the songs or games they enjoy. We can pause for feeding or settling. The baby session preparation guide has the practical checklist.
